American Greetings has engaged an outside real estate firm to help consider the pros, cons and issues of moving the corporate headquarters.

American Greetings cites Brooklyn's increase of payroll tax by 25% to 2.5% But Mayor Richard Balbier wonders if there's more too it.

Balbier tells WTAM that he wonders how Brooklyn would survive the loss of another 2,000 jobs. Hugo Boss just announced that it's plant would close, eliminating 300 workers. American Greetings is Brooklyn's largest employer.

Balbier says he'll meet with American Greeting execs in mid-February, and hopes to have a plan by then to retain the company.
