Lerner "sick " about Browns

Owner says Mangini will not be fired this week

Browns owner Randy Lerner was in Chicago for yesterdays embarrassing 30-6
loss to the Chicago Bears.  Lerner spoke with reporters after the game
and said he felt "sick" about the 1-7 team.

When asked if he would fire Eric Mangini during the bye week?
He said, No.   However he did indicate, that he would look for some help
for his beleaguered organization.  That help would come in the form of a
football person, who could lead the organization and provide stability.

Could that someone be Bernie Kosar?  The former quarterback recently
officially joined the team as a consultant. However Lerner did say, the person may
or may not already be with the team.

Lerner's comments suggest he wants to reduce some of Eric Mangini's
authority over the team, as the head coach has been making all the calls
for virtually every detail on the football operations side.

The Browns committed 5 turnovers in yesterdays loss. Mangini said every position
and every coach will be evaluated during the upcoming bye week.
Brady Quinn finished the game at quarterback in relief of Derek Anderson
who had a rating of 10.5.  Mangini would not say who will start at quarterback
on Monday November 16th, when the Browns play their next game,
hosting the Baltimore Ravens.

Browns note.
RB Jamal Lewis said after yesterday;s frustrating loss, that he will retire at the
end of this year. Lewis ran for 69 yards in 16 attempts in yesterdays game.
