Rocky River Police Blotter: Accident In The Police Parking Lot

Below are items of interest from the Rocky River Police Department from 05/01/2018 through 05/07/2018.

  • On 05/01/2018 at about 3:10 PM, police went to Marc's Discount Store on Center Ridge Rd. after a reported theft offense. Store security told responding officers he saw Eric Thompson, a 47-year-old Cleveland man, select, conceal, and leave without paying for $197 worth of merchandise. The security officer recognized Mr. Thompson from a prior theft offense at another Marc's store. Mr. Thompson was arrested for Theft and Criminal Trespass. 
  • On 05/03/2018 at about 12:40 PM, a vehicle struck several cars in the Police Department parking lot on Hilliard Blvd. before leaving west bound on Hilliard Blvd. with a police officer following. The vehicle stopped after striking a police vehicle that was blocking the roadway and the driver, a 39-year-old Rocky River woman, was taken into custody. The woman appeared to have some medical or mental health issues and was transported to hospital. Criminal charges are pending. 
  • On 05/04/2018 at about 12:30 PM police were dispatched to Colahan Dr. after a report of a man sitting in a car bleeding was received. The injured man, 31-years-old from Parma, said he was on the street installing carpet but could not explain his injury to responding personnel. He was transported to hospital for treatment and evaluation. Police are investigating. 
  • On 05/04/2018 at about 1:10 PM police responded to a Wooster Rd. apartment building after a landlord reported one of his tenants was assaulted. It was determined that one resident was helping her neighbor with some banking and the neighbor's wife became upset and a physical altercation ensured. All involved were residents of the building and noone wanted to file criminal charges. Medical attention was offered and declined. 
  • On 05/04/2018 at about 3:20 PM police responded to an Orchard Park home to investigate an assault. Police determined that the victim, a 28-year-old Rocky River woman, was pushed, shoved, and held down on the ground by her boyfriend's uncle, 51-year-old Paul Papleo, who was arrested for assault.
