Strongsville Gets New Head Girl's Basketball Coach

Strongsville - Carl Walcher has been named head varsity girls basketball coach for Strongsville High School.

Walcher’s most recent position in his thirty two year coaching career has been the varsity assistant coach for the boys basketball team at Medina High School. He has held that position for five years. Prior to that, Walcher was the head varsity girls basketball coach at Trinity High School and also spent time with the girls basketball programs at Normandy High School, Medina High School, and Valley Forge High School.

"When the Strongsville varsity girls basketball coaching position became available, it immediately got my attention. It is a special situation, one of a few that I would consider, especially having to leave a great position with Medina boys basketball. This is a group of outstanding young student-athletes with a passion to be great. Strongsville is an outstanding community and is really supportive and passionate about their high school sports teams. I am very excited and grateful to be chosen as the next head coach of these young ladies. With our program, it's not all about basketball. It's about having fun, making great memories, serving our community, while maintaining a winning culture. We will make the community proud of who we are on and off the court," said Carl Walcher, Strongsville High School varsity girls basketball head coach.

“We are excited to have Coach Walcher join our Mustangs coaching staff. He has outstanding basketball knowledge and the right approach to working with student-athletes. Coach Walcher is also highly connected in the basketball community and has great experience building youth programs, which will be a tremendous asset to this program,” said Andy Jalwan, Strongsville High School Athletic Director.
