Brecksville Home Days

Brecksville

The 2018 big Home Days celebration on the Square in Brecksville will be Friday, June 29 from 5 p.m.  to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 30 from 3 p.m.  to 11 p.m.  and Sunday, July  1 from 3 p.m.  to 11 p.m.

On Sunday night at 10:00 p.m., the fireworks will be accompanied by a heart thumping musical montage which Mayor Hruby always creates and it goes non-stop until “Elvis Has Left the Building!” Plus, there’s a mini but powerful fireworks “preview” on Saturday night, June 30 at 10:00 pm.

“The Home Days Concert Series is back and that means there will be a different concert each night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Leading off on Friday night at 8 you’ll think you’re back in the 80s and 90s with the Journey tribute band, Escape.  On Saturday night, it’s Walt Wise who does a knock out Billy Joel and Elton John.  On Sunday night, it’s The McCartney Project. If you love Paul, two nonstop hours of tunes that Paul soloed on going right up to the humongous fire works!!!

And of course there are polkas with Johnny Pastirik on Saturday afternoon and Wayne Tomsic on Sunday afternoon. Both shows are 3 to 5.

New at Home Days this year is the Ohio Flags of Honor. Brecksville is a town that always turns out to honor those who have lost their lives in war but the Ohio Flags of Honor takes it closer to home. Ohio has lost 297 of its sons and daughters in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Ohio Flags of Honor is a flag for each of those soldiers, including Brecksville’s own, Marine Sgt. Dennis E. Kancler. There will be a stirring opening ceremony for the flags on Friday night, June 29 at 6 pm in front of Central School.
