Car Crashes Into Hospital In Green, Injures Couple

Green - A hospital visit went wrong Thursday afternoon for one couple at Summa Health in Green, near Akron.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office says at approximately 2:45 p.m., they responded to 911 calls in the City of Green for reports of an impaired driver. The callers stated that a white Acura was swerving in the southbound lanes on I-77 near Arlington Road.

When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle had driven off of the interstate, down an embankment, through a fence, and onto the property of Summa Health. The vehicle struck the hospital, went through the exterior wall, and eventually entered an examination room.

The room was occupied by a female patient and her husband. Both were treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the 2014 Acura was identified as a 37 year old male from Canton. Suspected drugs were located in the vehicle. He was transported to Akron City Hospital in Akron, and is facing charges pending the outcome of the investigation.
