Amazon Worker Dies of COVID-19

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio — A company spokesperson for Amazon confirms an employee who worked at the North Randall Fulfillment Center has died of COVID-16. The employee last worked at the site on April 30, which is also the same day she was diagnosed with COVID-19. Amazon said they were notified of her death on May 18. “We immediately contacted her family to extend our support,” the spokesperson said.

All employees at the site are being offered counseling. The company said masks have been required to be worn by all employees on April 15. Amazon said the company has “invested heavily in proactive measures to protect and support the health and safety of our employees.”

The spokesperson also noted the rate of infection at the fulfillment center is “significantly below the rate of the community itself.”
