LeBron James Asking For Info In Akron Woman's Murder

(Akron) - A woman was shot dead in her West Akron home this week, and the family's getting help from LeBron James.

Ericka Weems, 37, was shot dead Monday afternoon. Her family says she was a kind person, dedicated to helping others. Now, Akron's best-known native is speaking out.

LeBron James has known Weems for years. Her brother, Brandon, played basketball with James at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Brandon Weems is now the director of scouting for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James put out a tweet, reading, "AKRON OHIO!! My brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! My brother family need answers to why and by whom. My city I need y’all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel!"

Cavaliers GM Koby Altman put out this statement "The entire Cavaliers organization was terribly saddened to learn about the recent tragic death of Brandon Weems’ sister Ericka. Our hearts are heavy and filled with pain over this senseless act. We express our deepest condolences to Brandon, the entire Weems family, their loved ones, and the Akron community. We will be with Brandon throughout this extremely difficult time and will offer our assistance and resources to help find justice for Ericka."

Tips can be called to Akron Police.
