13-Year-Old's Death Related to Drug Deal Gone Bad

(Cleveland) - Police now say the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy was connected to a drug deal gone bad.

Cleveland Police say Ja'Mari Jones was in a van with two other teenagers who had gone to the Lakeview Terrace public housing complex on the near west side to buy drugs. Police say the three teens were robbed by the group with whom they were dealing, and then shots were fired into the van as it sped away. One bullet hit Jones in the head.

The van's driver stopped at a restaurant on West 25th just south of Detroit Avenue, and called 911. Jones was pronounced dead at MetroHealth.

Cleveland Police are still looking for suspects.
