(Los Angeles) - Former Indians and Reds starting pitcher Trevor Bauer has been served with a restraining order filed by a woman in Los Angeles, where Bauer now pitches for the Dodgers.
An attorney for the woman says they expect criminal assault charges against Bauer in the near future. The attorney told TMZ, "the order is a result of a recent assault that took place at the hands of Mr. Bauer where (the victim) suffered severe physical and emotional pain."
A spokesperson for Bauer says that the pitcher began an intimate relationship with the woman in April, that the relationship was consensual, and messages show that she asked for rough physical encounters.
Bauer pitched for the Indians from 2013 to 2019, when he was traded to the Reds. He won the National League Cy Young award as a Reds starter. Over the past winter, Bauer signed a three-year contract with the Dodgers.
