CLEVELAND - It’s been many years in the making but a ribbon cutting ceremony has finally been scheduled for the North Coast Harbor Bridge on Wednesday at noon. Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Cleveland City Councilman Kerry McCormick will preside over the proceedings.

The new pedestrian draw bridge will connect behind the Great Lakes Science Center to Voinovich Park. It will allow pedestrians easier access to the lakefront park besides going all the way down to the end of East 9th Street. Boaters will be able to enter or exit the inner-harbor when the draw bridge is raised if they can’t pass underneath.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says the cost of the bridge was $12.3 million.
