Canadian folk singer and songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is dead at age 84. A representative for the family says the Lightfoot passed away at a hospital in Toronto Monday night. His cause of death wasn't revealed. The singer is behind classic Canadian ballads like "Early Morning Rain" and " the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Lightfoot's reached peak popularity in the mid 70s when both his single and album "Sundown" topped Billboard.
