South Korea's parliament has passed a bill that would make it illegal to eat dog meat.

The bill bans the breeding or slaughter of dogs for food, or the sale of any food products made with dog meat.

South Korea has an estimated 1,100 farms that raise dogs for food. They will be given a three-year grace period to change their business or close down.

The bill now goes to President Yoon Suk Yeol for his signature.
