(Cleveland)
- Tom Ganley, head of the largest automotive sales group in Ohio, is running for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate from Ohio.

Ganley, who would face former Congressman Rob Portman in the 2010 primary, is running on a platform of being a successful businessman for the past 41 years, indicating that Capitol Hill needs more people with business expertise.

Ganley acknowledges that Portman is the party's choice for the nomination to run against the eventual Democratic nominee. Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher and Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner are the Democratic candidates announced so far.

Ganley and the others are candidates for the senate seat being given up by George Voinovich, who is retiring at the end of 2010.
