(Amherst) - Two Lorain County boys were injured when lightening struck their house during Saturday's thunderstorm.
Amherst assistant fire Chief James Wilhelm explains that a bolt hit a TV antenna on the roof of the Robert Mendak home on Graybark Drive.
It traveled down to the chimney, blowing out the side of the chimney, continued into the basement, shattering a glass fireplace cover, and scattering debris all over the interior of the home.

Wilhelm says, 11 year old Stephen, and 6 year old Matthew Mendak were struck by glass fragments and taken to the hospital. They were not seriously hurt but both suffered cuts, and required stitches as glass had to be removed from their bodies.
Wilhelm feels the family was very lucky, because when lightening hits a house it usually turns into an inferno. Damage is estimated to be at least $75,000.
