Sheriff Reid talks with WTAM about talks with Shaq
(Cleveland) - Shaquille O’Neal jokingly refused to talk Thursday about a meeting he had with Cuyahoga County Sheriff Bob Reid.
The sheriff's department says Reid and O’Neal met for about an hour on Wednesday.
O’Neal would like to be a special deputy and hinted to reporters he may already be “undercover”.
O’Neal has law enforcement training and has held special deputy posts in Los Angeles, Miami and Virginia.
The Cuyahoga County sheriff's office is investigating if he would need other training here and also what powers he might have as a special deputy. Some special deputies do have arrest powers.
Sheriff Bob Reid tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that O’Neal is interested in a law enforcement career after basketball. He likes the fact that O’Neal is pro-active and wants to be involved in day-to-day activities in the department.
Reid says O’Neal could be an asset and is a "real professional".
