(Cleveland) - The effort is underway to revive the Cleveland Urban League, along with its free job training and entrepreneurship programs.
National Urban League president Marc Morial says he's working on a recovery plan for the Cleveland chapter that will include restoring programs, reducing debt, and expanding fundraising.
Marc MorialMorial explains the plan will also include working closer with federal and local government leaders. Cleveland mayor Frank Jackson's office is pledging support, along with longtime corporate supporter Dominion East Ohio.
Morial says he will outline further details about the plan when he returns to Cleveland early in 2010.
The Cleveland Urban League announced it was closing several months ago, because of a huge debt and declining funding. However, the office remains open with a skeleton staff.
