(Cleveland) - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Kimberly Avenue home that was the birthplace of Superman.
Jerry Siegel's family lived in the Glenville neighborhood house, on Cleveland's northeast side, where he and friend Joe Shuster created the "Man of Steel" in 1932.

Hundreds of people braved a pouring rain and thunderstorms to witness a program unveiling new renovations to the house now owned by Jefferson and Hattie Grey.
Jefferson Grey explained that the renewal project has been great for the entire Glenville neighborhood and worldwide fans of the "Last Son of Krypton".
Among those attending the ceremony was Joanne Siegel...the widow of Jerry Siegel.
Joanne SiegelMrs. Siegel told the gathering that the house is very special, and that what happened inside influenced people all over the globe. Also speaking at the ceremony was Laura Siegel Larson, the daughter of Jerry Siegel.
The renovations were completed with the help of the Siegel and Shuster Society, the Glenville Development Corporation and others, as a tribute to what many believe is the greatest fictional character of all time.
