(Cleveland) – It’s been two months since new Cuyahoga County Sheriff Bob Reid was sworn into office, and he claims progress is being made in getting the agency back on track.
Reid says employees are becoming more open and cooperative now that former Sheriff Gerald McFaul is gone. He reports workers are developing a sense of pride, and are eager to share new ideas because they were seldom asked to do so in the past.
Reid says he's trying to foster greater cooperation between his office, the Cleveland Police Department, and suburban law enforcement agencies.
Reid contends McFaul did not do all he could to reach out to other police departments in the county, and that job descriptions and duties in the Sheriff's office had not been updated in years.
Reid adds that the hiring and promotions process is being made more transparent, with jobs now awarded more on merit and ability than in the past.
