(Garfield Heights) – A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon for Marine Master Sgt. Adam Benjamin of Garfield Heights. The service was conducted at the Golubski Deliberato Funeral Home.
Family, friends, and well-wishers struggled to hold back tears as the casket was brought out of the funeral home for a military ceremony.

A Marine honor guard stood at attention, and then fired their rifles into the air, as the flag was removed from the casket and meticulously folded and presented to the family.
Michele Eck drove all the way from Parma to attend the funeral. Eck has two sons in the military and one serving in Afghanistan. Eck says she wanted to show her support for the Benjamin family.

Capt. Ralph Bago of the Patriot Guard Riders says his members came from as far away as Bowling Green to stand watch over the funeral.
Sgt. Adam Benjamin’s cousin, Ginger Jordon says the family appreciates the show of support, and urges all to stand by our servicemen and women.
Sgt. Benjamin was killed in combat in Afghanistan on August 18th. He enlisted in the Marines after graduating from Garfield Heights High School in 1993.
Sgt. Benjamin will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday.
