Organizers say the 2,999 small flags planted in front of the capitol building represent the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
This is the third straight year of the special display at the Statehouse. Volunteers set aside three hours last evening to place the flags in their spots.
In Westerville, a solemn procession made its way to Fire Station 11 on West Main Street where a first responders park will be open by next year.
Onlookers watched a steel beam from the north tower of the World Trade Center makes its way through town. It's to be the centerpiece of the park.
