Runners and walkers jam downtown Cleveland to fight breast cancer.
(Cleveland) - An estimated 20,000 people from 22 northeast Ohio counties and beyond took place in the annual race for the cure in downtown Cleveland, including many breast cancer survivors...who say you can fight this disease and win, with the support of friends and family.
Gail of Lakewood completed the race after being diagnosed in 2008, and undergoing chemotherapy and surgery. She urges women to get checked, and to support the cause.
Christy Calamante (holding sign)
Christy Calamante of Garfield Heights organized "Commando's for the Cure" to raise money for the cause. She fears drug companies are holding back cures because so much money is being made on cancer treatment.
Men were very well represented at Race for the Cure, running for their mothers, wives, cousins and sisters.
Joe Perfetto & daughters
