Century old Lorain church holds its last mass.
St. Stanislaus Photo Gallery(Cleveland) – A sad day for parishioners at St. Stanislaus Church on Elyria Avenue in Lorain. The final mass was held today with bishop Richard Lennon giving the homily. The mass was not open to the media.
Many church members stood outside holding signs that read: Save our church. Parish dis-membering in process. Bishop Lennon open your eyes.
All explained that this was a very disheartening day for them, and they can't understand why a church with a 100 year history is being sold.

Members say St. Stan's is special because of its polish heritage, and that family members have been attending for generations. Plus, the building was recently renovated.
Several members feel the Catholic Diocese is becoming too concerned about making money, and less interested in serving people.
Also holding its final mass today was St. Ladislaus Church which is just a few blocks away from St. Stan's.
A real estate listing sets St. Stan's value at $525,000. Also for sale are Sacred and Holy Cross Churches in Elyria.
