(Warrensville Heights) - It was the Running of the Brides at Filene’s. Women arrived well before dawn to get the first chance to buy deep discounted wedding gowns. Some got there as early as 1am for the 8am store opening.
Some traveled from as far away as Niagara Falls, Canada, Rochester, New York, and the state of Arizona.
Inside the Filene’s, there were hundreds of designer and famous name wedding gowns, some retailing for $9,000 dollars, but going for as little as $299 in this one day only sale.
When the doors opened the mad dash was on...as women desperately tried to snap up bargains, with many trying on gowns right in the middle of the store...not waiting for a vacant fitting room.
Their was plenty of bargaining with women trading and exchanging garments among themselves.
After lot of searching some hit the jackpot. Others came away empty handed, it just wasn't their day. However, everyone seems to have had a good time.
